DanSign Systems - Respecting history with Lloyds of London

Category: Press Release

Combining historic or landmark buildings with modern signage systems can often prove a huge challenge, leading to clashes between the original architecture and newly introduced contemporary designs.

This becomes even more of a challenge when your client’s business address is a historic London landmark and the design brief is to implement an effective architectural wayfinding system that reflects the needs of a modern day company without conflicting with its history.

DanSign Systems recently completed the successful project for world famous insurance company Lloyd’s of London, integrating their PlanSign wayfinding systems into the Lloyd’s of London head quarters in Lime Street, London. Not only was the historical importance of the company a crucial consideration, but the DanSign system had to integrate seamlessly within the historical landmark designed by architect Richard Rogers, and still meet the project brief of providing an effective wayfinding system for a modern day office environment.

DanSign Systems has accumulated vast experience over the last 25 years when it comes to combining the requirements of historic buildings with its award winning architectural signage systems. With deep roots in design tradition, DanSign Systems are internationally renowned for their minimalist design, high levels of quality and flexible product ranges. In many cases DanSign will also operate as an advisor for design companies and architects when the renovation of historic and landmark buildings includes the need for effective wayfinding and architectural signage systems, customised to fit perfectly into a unique environment.

It was important for Lloyds of London that a reputable and experienced signage company could work closely with the designers in order to aid with the initial wayfinding design requirements and then continue to manage all the signage elements of the project through to completion. With Lloyd’s of London having provided insurance for historic events such as Lord Nelson’s famous battles and the tragic sinking of the Titanic, they have played a significant role in the shaping of world history. It was therefore extremely important for Lloyds of London to select a partner in architectural signage that would take care of reflecting those historic values correctly throughout its London head quarters – DanSign Systems achieved this very successfully, helping to continue the proud tradition of one of the world most historic insurance companies. www.dansign.co.uk/study06.html
